I went to an event last night that started well, then became rather unpleasant when the club promoter and the waiter were both rude to the lovely people in my party on a number of occasions. So this morning I fired off a balanced and objective complaint (even though I wanted blood, or posssibly even heads on pikestaffs) via their website - and we now have free tickets to any upcoming event we would like. We may or may not take them up on this offer, of course.
However, it does bring me to a good money-saving skill, namely the art of complaining. Only do it when you really feel you have to, and do it well. The best complaints are by letter, and tend to contain a simple outline of what annoyed you/went wrong, why this is unacceptable, and a (not too greedy) suggestion for how the offending individual or company can put things right. It also helps if you're aware of your statutory rights.
Go to it, fellow complainers. You might like to complain about unfair bank charges, for example: campaign pages here.
There is a useful little article about effective complaint letters in the consumer section of the BBC website too.
Or stop bloody moaning. The choice is yours. Tee hee.
