Early mention of the C-word
My local branch of Lidl have just filled up their aisle of Christmas goodies. They are, for the main part, very cheap and pretty good quality - and as most of it isn't seasonal Brit food I'll be scoffing some of it right away.
While I do hate the in-your-face commercialism of many of the shops that do this with their stock, I'm also thinking it helps those of us on smaller budgets. I get to spread the cost over three months instead of buying all in one go.
Speaking of stocking up, Tesco have a couple of their champagnes, a decent vintage cava and a nice-looking prosecco on at half price this week, plus a deal on Plymouth gin... (scroll down to get to spirits and sparkling wines).
Right, must dash...

Cheers!
Bobs - couldn't agree more :) That prosecco does look nice though - have you tried that brand before? I've had the cava and it's more than passable. Tee hee.
RG - while it may be a 'negative' ploy (they do have to make a profit after all), it's also a positive opportunity for the many people who are genuinely short of cash to make decisions and plan ahead - self-discipline kicks in pretty quickly when you're genuinely broke.
Plubs - That's a handy tip-off, thank you. I'll have a look next time I'm in - might be near the Clapham branch one afternoon next week before/after a meeting.
Ooh and I am a sucker for German gingerbread treats too.
Cheers m'dear!
They didn't have all the gingerbreads in yet, but I'm watching like a hawk - they're my fave.
